YYNAC Rule Book

The YYNAC Rule Book sets out how Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation is governed and how members participate in the Corporation. It covers YYNAC’s governance structure, membership, the Board of Directors, Council of Elders, meetings, financial management, reporting and other important responsibilities of the Corporation.

The current Rule Book was registered by a Delegate of the Registrar on 9 August 2024.

What’s in the Rule Book?

The Rule Book provides the formal framework for the governance and operation of YYNAC.

Membership

The Rule Book sets out who is eligible to apply for membership, the application and assessment process, member rights and responsibilities, and the recognised Yorta Yorta Family Groups.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of YYNAC. The Rule Book establishes the composition of the Board, director eligibility, appointments, terms and responsibilities.

Council of Elders

The Council of Elders provides culturally important advice to the Board on matters including membership, Lore and culture, Native Title, language and genealogy. The Council may consist of up to 16 Yorta Yorta Elders, with one Elder representing each Family Group.

Members & Meetings

The Rule Book establishes how Annual General Meetings and other general meetings operate, including member participation, voting, resolutions and meeting requirements. Members have the right to attend, speak and vote at general meetings and participate in the governance of the Corporation in accordance with the Rule Book.

Governance & Accountability

The Rule Book includes requirements covering financial records, annual reporting, auditing, meeting records, access to governance material and the responsibilities of YYNAC’s directors and officers.

Information for Members

YYNAC is required to provide members with regular information about the Corporation.

The Rule Book provides for member information meetings at least once every four months and newsletters to members at least once every four months.
