Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation (YYNAC) represents Yorta Yorta people and works to protect and advance the rights, interests, culture and Country of the Yorta Yorta Nation.
YYNAC is governed by its Board of Directors, which is responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the Corporation. The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the organisation.
The Council of Elders plays an important role within YYNAC’s governance structure. As respected members of the Yorta Yorta community and holders of cultural knowledge, the Council provides culturally important advice to the Board on matters affecting Yorta Yorta people, culture and Country.
YYNAC operates in accordance with its registered Rule Book, which sets out the Corporation’s governance arrangements, membership, decision-making processes and responsibilities of the Board and Council of Elders.
YYNAC is committed to accountable and transparent governance. Corporate and financial reports provide members and the wider community with information about the Corporation’s activities, governance and performance.

“The Country is us and we are the Country – this is our home and nowhere else.” The Yorta Yorta Whole-of-Country Plan sets out our aspirations, priorities and actions for caring for Country, culture and community. Developed with the aspirations and directions of Yorta Yorta Elders, members, staff and partners, the Plan guides the work of YYNAC and helps inform partners about Yorta Yorta priorities and approaches to caring for Country. The Plan addresses land and water, cultural heritage, cultural fire, climate change, priority places, knowledge, economic opportunities, partnerships, and cultural education and tourism.
YYNAC members have an important role in the Corporation, including participating in general meetings and having a voice in the governance of YYNAC. Find out about membership eligibility, recognised Yorta Yorta Family Groups, the application process and how to apply.
YYNAC members will be notified in advance of upcoming Annual General Meetings, General Meetings and member information meetings. Meeting notices will be provided to members through the communication methods set out in the YYNAC Rule Book, with notices also published on the YYNAC website and shared through YYNAC social media channels. The YYNAC Strategic Plan 2020–2030 sets out the long-term priorities and actions guiding the Corporation and its work for Yorta Yorta people.
The Plan focuses on strengthening cultural authority and self-determination, empowering Yorta Yorta Family Groups, safeguarding cultural knowledge and building a strong and sustainable organisation that reflects the aspirations of Yorta Yorta people.
