Be Part of YYNAC

Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation represents Yorta Yorta people and works to protect and advance the rights, interests, culture and Country of the Yorta Yorta Nation.

If you are a Yorta Yorta person with connection to one of the recognised Yorta Yorta Family Groups, you may be eligible to apply to become a member of YYNAC.

 

There is no fee to apply for or maintain YYNAC membership.

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible to apply for YYNAC membership, you must:

Be 18 years of age or older;

Be a descendant of one of the recognised Yorta Yorta Family Groups;

Identify as a Yorta Yorta person;

Agree to abide by the YYNAC Rule Book, the CATSI Act and YYNAC Code of Conduct;

Agree to act in the best interests of the Corporation;

Complete a membership application;

Have your application endorsed by an Elder from your Family Group who is a member.

How to Apply

1. Complete Your Application

Provide your contact details, identification and as much information as possible about your family tree and Yorta Yorta connection.

2. Nominate Your Primary Family Group

Select the recognised Yorta Yorta Family Group with which you have your primary affiliation. Only one Family Group can be nominated for the purposes of your membership application.

3. Family Group Elder Endorsement

Your application must be endorsed by an Elder from your nominated Family Group who is a member of YYNAC.

4. Application Review

Your application is reviewed by the Council of Elders, which provides advice to the Board of Directors about membership applications.

Additional information, including genealogical information, may be requested to assist with confirming eligibility.

5. Board Consideration

The Board of Directors considers and makes the decision on membership applications.

6. Membership Confirmation

If your application is accepted, your name is entered on the YYNAC Register of Members and you will be advised of the outcome of your application.

Apply for YYNAC Membership

Please provide as much information as possible. You will be asked for personal and contact details, identification, information about your family tree and your Primary Family Group.

 

Submitting an application does not automatically make you a YYNAC member. Applications are reviewed and determined in accordance with the YYNAC Rule Book.
