The Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation (YYNAC) is calling for Yorta Yorta artists to develop a total of six drawings.
These six drawings will be combined in a final work, that will aim to enhance a public space and celebrate Yorta Yorta connection to the Echuca land and waters.
The drawings and/or symbols will act as linear designs to be converted into laser-cut Corten steel for use in public art, alongside a Yorta Yorta interpretive sign.
This final public art installation aims to create an immersive encounter, telling a story, by way of these drawings, through symbols and designs.
ARTWORK OPPORTUNITY
The YYNAC is seeking Expressions of Interest from artists for the potential creation of this steel panelled artwork, which will be an installation of public art in Echuca. This will be across two stages.
YYNAC encourages Yorta Yorta identifying artists with demonstrated experience, including emerging artists, to apply for this opportunity.
This EOI will offer opportunities for local Yorta Yorta artists to create art that will strengthen the artists’ profile, as well as the presence of Yorta Yorta culture, imagery and story in the landscape.
APPLICANTS TO INCLUDE

The successful selected artists will be commissioned to prepare a design and will be invited to an online workshop to learn more about this art installation, its location, timelines, and its importance for YYNAC.

ARTWORK COMMISSION
Each successful EOI artist will receive $1000 per work commissioned, as a full design fee.
TIMELINE
5pm, 12 March 2021 ‐ Expressions of Interest close
9 – 23 April 2021 – Artist formal commission
23 April 2021 – Design brief due and design feedback/workshop
TBA May 2021 ‐ Announce successful artists to public
4 June 2021 – Final artwork due
18 June to 16 July 2021 – Production period
TBA – Installation and public launch period
